Do you think you’re pregnant? Signs of pregnancy can vary for each woman, but there are common pregnancy symptoms that you could be experiencing. If you are sexually active, a pregnancy test is recommended if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
- Missed period
- Nausea/Vomiting
- Frequent urination
- Fatigue
- Tender, swollen breasts
- Mood swings
- Bloating
At Anderson House, we offer free, lab-quality pregnancy tests so you can get the answers to a potential pregnancy. A positive pregnancy test is only an indication of pregnancy so be sure to follow up with an ultrasound to get more clarity.
When Should I Take A Test?
Timing is essential to the results you get on a pregnancy test. The Mayo Clinic recommends taking a test at least one day after your first missed period for accurate results.
Due to women having irregular periods or miscalculating the first day of their missed period, the FDA estimates that 10-20% of pregnant women may not receive a positive pregnancy test result on this day. If you think you could still be pregnant after a negative pregnancy test, take another one a week after your period for the most accurate results.
Are Your Periods Irregular?
Many women have irregular periods, which can be hard to navigate. If you have irregular periods, it’s challenging to determine when to take a pregnancy test. According to the FDA, most pregnancy tests can detect the pregnancy hormone, hCG, in urine 12-15 days after ovulation for women with 28-day cycles.
Try to wait three weeks after sex or four weeks after your last period, which should be adequate time for an accurate pregnancy test reading.
